Little Elm storms that show the risk
March 2, 2023: wind on Eldorado Parkway
Around 6 p.m., powerful winds pulled the front facade off a store at the Shops of Little Elm, burying about six parked cars in bricks and beams. Nobody was hurt. Wind that strong also lifts shingles and rips soffits on nearby homes.
June 11, 2023: big hail all around
Storm reports within 10 miles of Little Elm that day included hail up to 3 inches in The Colony and 2.5 inches in Lewisville. The area logged 19 hail reports within that radius during 2023.

Little Elm’s homes are young, but that does not make roofs immune. Asphalt shingles on a 2010 house have been through many hail seasons already, and a single strong storm can crack them or strip granules. Damage is often invisible from the ground until water shows up on a ceiling weeks later.
After any major storm, walk the house and look at ceilings near exterior walls, closets under roof valleys, and the attic around vents and skylights. Catching a wet spot early keeps a simple roof repair from turning into a ceiling, insulation, and mold job.

What the work involves
Storm damage restoration in Little Elm, from the roof down
Storm water rarely stays where it enters. It runs along rafters, soaks attic insulation, and shows up as a ceiling stain two rooms away. We work in this order:
- Secure the building. Tarp damaged roof sections and board up broken windows or doors.
- Check the attic. Wet insulation loses its value and holds water against the drywall below. We remove it when needed.
- Extract and dry. Water comes out of carpet and floors, and dehumidifiers and air movers dry ceilings and walls.
- Document. Photos, moisture maps, and daily logs go to you and your adjuster.
- Repair. We replace drywall, insulation, paint, and flooring once the structure is dry.

Insurance, HOAs, and cost after storm damage
Wind and hail damage is usually covered by a standard homeowners policy, including water that gets in through a storm-damaged roof. Many Texas policies carry a separate wind and hail deductible, often a percentage of the home’s insured value, so check yours before you file.
Rising water from outside is a different matter and usually needs flood coverage. Our moisture maps show where the water entered, which helps your adjuster sort roof leak from surface water.
Many of Little Elm’s master-planned subdivisions have HOAs. Emergency tarping is almost always allowed, but permanent roof, siding, and fence repairs may need HOA approval, and a reroof may need a permit from the Town. Cost depends on roof access, how much insulation and drywall got wet, and how long water sat. Try our cost calculator, and read why North Texas storms do so much damage.

FAQ
Storm damage questions
Do you replace roofs?
We provide emergency tarping and handle all the interior water damage. For a full reroof, you will work with a roofing contractor, and we can share our photos and moisture data with them and your adjuster.
How soon should I report hail damage?
As soon as you can. Policies set deadlines, and damage gets harder to tie to a specific storm as time passes. Photos taken the same day, with hail still on the ground, are the strongest proof.
A tree limb came through my roof. Can you help?
Yes. Once the limb is removed by a tree service, we tarp the opening, remove water and wet insulation, and dry the rooms below.
My ceiling has a small stain after the storm. Is that a big deal?
It can be. A small stain often means wet insulation above it. Left alone, that moisture can lead to mold and sagging drywall. A quick moisture check tells you how far it spread.
Should I wait for the adjuster before drying anything?
No. Photograph the damage, then start water removal. Policies expect you to prevent further damage, and waiting days for an inspection lets water spread into insulation and drywall. Our photos and moisture logs show the adjuster what we found.
Will my HOA let me put a tarp on the roof?
Emergency tarps are generally accepted to prevent further damage. Let your HOA know it is temporary and get permanent repairs approved as needed.
